You can search for specific attachments within your Jira projects. You can search for attachments by the following criteria:

  • Jira project
  • file name
  • file extension
  • category
  • uploader
  • created date
  • file size

Search for attachments

  1. Open the project within which you want search for attachments.
  2. On the navigational sidebar, select Find Attachments. The Search for attachments page opens.
  3. On the opened page, use the filters to specify the search criteria. Click More options to see the full list of search criteria, as follows:
    1. Project - the current Jira project is selected by default. Start entering the project name to include its attachments in search results. You can select up to 5 Jira projects.
    2. User - start entering names of users who uploaded attachments. The app will prompt you with possible matches.
    3. Category - select one or multiple categories for search. If you search by projects with the app category scheme enabled and disabled at the same time, all files from the project without the app scheme will show up regardless of the selected category.
    4. Text - enter the file name, its part, or file extension to search for.
    5. Created date - select the date range of the attachment upload to Jira.
    6. File size - enter the number and size format of the attachments to search for.
  4. Click Search.


Bulk delete attachments

Jira scheme permissions align with the operations on attachments. The user must have the Delete all attachments permission to delete files attached by other users from the Find attachments section.

You can delete multiple files that you've found in the Find attachments section to run operations on files from different Jira issues at once.

  1. Open the Find attachments section.
  2. If needed, use the filters and run search to narrow down the list of attachments shown. 
  3. Click the Perform bulk operations button.
  4. Select the Delete attachments option from the dropdown menu.
  5. Select files to delete with checkboxes. Use the checkbox in the table header to select all files on a page at once. Use controls under the table to navigate between pages.
  6. Click Confirm.
  7. Confirm operation in the modal dialog by clicking Delete.
  8. Wait till the operation is completed and the dialog is closed. The app shows you the progress of operation in a dialog.

Bulk download attachments

You can download multiple files that you've found in the Find attachments section to run operations on files from different Jira issues at once.

  1. Open the Find attachments section.
  2. If needed, use the filters and run search to narrow down the list of attachments shown. 
  3. Click the Perform bulk operations button.
  4. Select the Download attachments option from the dropdown menu.
  5. Select files to delete with checkboxes. Use the checkbox in the table header to select all files on a page at once. Use controls under the table to navigate between pages.
  6. Click Confirm.
  7. Confirm operation in the modal dialog by clicking Download.
  8. Wait till the operation is completed and the dialog is closed. The app shows you the progress of operation in a dialog.

Known issues

  1. File download can take longer than expected in the Safari browser. This is caused by the browser limitation. The same behavior occurs with native Jira attachment download from issues. We suggest using any other browser to download multiple files in the Find attchments section.
