Checklist templates let you create and reuse custom checklists across multiple Jira issues. They help teams save time, ensure process consistency, and reduce manual work, especially for processes like QA, onboarding, code reviews, or deployments.
Templates are only available within the Jira project where they were created and cannot be shared directly across different projects.
By default, users who can view a work item can also view Templates. Users who can edit a work item can add, edit, and delete Templates. The Manage Templates and Use Template buttons aren’t available in read-only checklist mode.
