The LaTeX Math for Confluence app by Stiltsoft allows you to add complex mathematical formulas directly to Confluence pages. It supports inline and block-style formatting to add formulas exactly where you need them.

Should you use an inline or a block formula?

Use an inline formula when the expression belongs inside a sentence, and a block formula when it stands on its own line.

  • Inline — for a variable, a short expression, or a symbol mentioned mid-sentence. The formula scales to the surrounding text size.
  • Block — for derivations, matrices, multi-line equations, and anything with limits above and below, such as a summation or an integral. Block formulas are centered by default.

If a formula does not look right, check the mode before adjusting anything else: using block where inline belongs splits the sentence, and using inline for a display equation squeezes it.
