These macros were designed to improve the performance and response of pages storing large tables. You can work with the original table without creating multiple copies of it for building several pivot tables or charts on its basis.

combine different kinds of table excerption and multi-excerption in one tool:

• excerption within one page
• multi-excerption within multiple pages and spaces searched by:
  • page names
  • page trees
  • labels

The macros improve the performance of pages storing large tables and let you use the original tables for any purpose, including filtering, building multiple charts and pivot tables.

Why should I use these macros?

Using the Table Excerpt Macro

Adding the Table Excerpt macro to a page:

1. In the Confluence editor, choose Insert > Other Macros.
2. Find and select the required macro.
3. Enter the unique identifier for the macro.

Adding a Table into the Table Excerpt Macro:

1. Copy (cut) a table.
2. Paste the table into the Table Excerpt macro placeholder.

Configuring Parameters of the Table Excerpt Macro

1. Select the macro placeholder.
2. Click Edit.
3. Enter a unique name for the current macro instance.
4. Click Save.

You will be able to reference the marked table by inserting the Table Excerpt Include macro and entering the specified unique name. You can refer only to the Table Excerpt macros stored on the same page, which the Table Excerpt Include macro is placed on.

Macro to a

Page and  Specifying the Settings:

1. In the Confluence editor, choose Insert > Other Macros.
2. Find and select the required macro.
3. Specify the settings:
   
   • Enter the
   excerpt
   • Excerpt name of the macro.
   • Select the Excerpt source to define the pages containing the Table Excerpt macro:
     

     - Current page
     - Specific page (specify the page title)
     - Page and childpages (specify the page title)
     - Page and all descendants (specify the page title)
     - Pages with labels (specify the page labels and the space title)

   • If you select the Current page option, select the  Show copy of source table  checkbox in case you want to show a copy of a source table in the page view mode.
4. Click Insert.

To edit an existing macro: Click the macro placeholder and choose Edit. A macro dialog window will open, where you can edit the parameters of the macro.

Configuring Parameters of the Table Excerpt Include Macro

1. Select the macro placeholder.
2. Click Edit.
3. Enter a unique name of the Table Excerpt macro for outputting a specific table on the page.
4. Click Save.

Using the Same Table for Generating Multiple Charts

1. Insert the Table Excerpt macro on the page.
2. Place the table on the basis of which you want to build multiple charts or generate multiple pivot tables within the Table Excerpt macro.
3. Enter the unique name for the Table Excerpt macro.
4. Insert multiple instances of the Pivot Table and Chart from Table macrosand place the source table into the macro body according to the instructions above.
5. Insert the Table Excerpt Include macro and entert the unique name of the Table Excerpt macro (to reference it).Place the Table Excerpt Include macro into the combination of the Pivot Table and according to the instructions above and place it into the Table Filter, Pivot Table or Chart from Table macros or their combination.
6. Adjust the parameters of the filtering, pivot tables and charts.
7. Save the page.

As the result, you will receive multiple charts generated on the basis of the same data table from multiple pages.
